I remember my first camera: a Kodak Brownie that was suitable for shooting nothing in particular. Just getting prints back in the mail was a thrill. A 35mm Pentax in high school hooked me, I mostly photographed my friends. Then, a 2 ¼ Roliflex had me taking photography seriously. In college, I pulled all-nighters in the darkroom, immersing my hands in the developing tray as the magical images appeared.
After graduate school, I put photography aside for many years. I bought a run-down complex, renovated it, and opened an inn charging $25.00 a night. I am still here almost 50 years later. My wife runs the inn, and I am back in with photography. Lucky, I am.
